Mariner Invitational

COURSE:  Hayward HS 3-Mile Course

WEATHER:  Cool and gray before the sun came out.

The Jaguars got a preview of the North Coast Section (NCS) Championship course on Saturday at the Mariner Invitational.  The meet featured some ups and a few downs, all things the Jaguars will take with them into the championship season in a few weeks.

FROSH SOPH BOYS:  Valentino Bugica (18:05.8) and Max Hidalgo (18:06.0) turned in their best performances of the year.  Max Weng also earned his first sub-20:00 mark in a 3-mile race, finishing in 19:51.

​

JUNIOR VARSITY GIRLS: Erika Hovland ran strong, crossing the line in 24:16.8.

 

JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS: David Kvamme represented the Jaguars in the JV race, running an 18:40. 

 

VARSITY GIRLS:  Erin O'Mara was the Jaguars' leading finisher in 20:29.1.  She was followed a minute later by Nataleigh Johnson and then Ava Smith.

​

VARSITY:  The Windsor Varsity Boys were the only team among the 35 that competed that put three runners in the Top 25.  Hunter Larson led the way with a 15:51, Dustin Smith broke the 16-minute barrier for the first time in 15:57, and Landon McAlister wasn't far behind in 16:12.  Garrett Melvin also had one of his best races of the season (18:13.5).
